Summer Classes at LSPA + The Ballet Studio 2018
Attend summer classes at Lafayette School of Performing Arts | The Ballet Studio! These Lafayette summer classes are available for ages 7 and up in ballet and 5 and up in aerial arts. Great opportunity to learn something new, maintain your skills, and sharpen your technique. The summer session runs from June 11 through July 19. There will no classes during the week of July 1 - 7.
Barre + Center
This class is for dancers age 7 and up that would like to attend a ballet class once a week. The 75 minute class will include barre and center exercises.
Barre + Center — AGES 7 & up
Tuesday | 5:30 p.m. – 6:45 p.m.
Students in Ballet A will work on developing the proper technique and strength for classical ballet in traditional ballet class format Ballet A dance students meet two days a week for a total of three hours of training each week.
Tuesday & Thursday| 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Ballet B is available to focused dancers who are committed to furthering their classical ballet training. At this level, students have worked their way up to being physically ready for dancing en pointe! Students are committed to a more intense training schedule and attend regular dance classes to continue developing their strength and abilities safely. The training includes ballet and pointe. Trainee 3 dancers meet three days a week for a total of six hours each week.
Ballet B — based on placement
Monday, Wednesday, & Thursday | 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Ballet C dancers further their technical training in a supportive, focused, and non-competitive environment. The dancers must show that they have the commitment and skill required to safely keep up with this challenging and rewarding ballet training program. Ballet C dancers attend class three days a week for a total of six hours during the summer program.

The best adult ballet class in Lafayette are found at The Ballet Studio at LSPA. All levels and abilities are invited to experience an enjoyable yet challenging ballet-based workout in our welcoming dance studio. In these adult ballet classes, the art of classical ballet is combined with strength and flexibility training to create the perfect adult fitness class. Dancers practice proper ballet technique while focusing on correct body alignment and posture. Join us regularly for this one hour and forty-five minute class to reshape, tone, and improve your body.

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical, and classical ballet. It connects the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. This dance genre is often done in bare feet and is performed to many different styles of music.

AERIAL Arts (1, 2, 3, Advanced, Adult)
Our Lafayette aerial silks classes teach students the fun of flying in a safe way that conditions and builds strength. With classes for all ages and abilities, all aerial silks levels at our Lafayette studio introduce students to basic wraps, climbs, and tricks with aerial silks. Students start from the ground up and eventually learn intricate wraps and skills. From the floor, students learn basic wraps and poses, and then move into working with the silks tied in an eggknot (slipknot). As students progress in classes or levels, they learn fundamental aerial silks skills like single and double foot locks, as well as inversions and sequencing of moves. As students advance, the sequencing and skill levels become more in-depth, and in the highest level, students may be introduced to drops. Throughout all classes, the focus is on proper body position and conditioning exercises. Class levels are divided by skill level.
These aerial arts classes at Lafayette School of Performing Arts teach the same fun skills as the aerial silks classes (description above); however, they also include other aerial arts such as lyra hoop, trapeze and triple trapeze! The focus remains on safe exercises and correct body positions while conditioning and building strength. These classes are also available for any ability from beginner to pro, and students will be placed in a levels that fits their age and ability. As students progress, the skills will become more advanced to match and continue advancing their training. Classes are divided by skill level and students are placed by instructor.

Cardio Kick & Punch (Teen & ADULT)
A workout designed to help strengthen the whole body and improve cardio conditioning. Includes warm up with boxing techniques performed to music and concludes with core strengthening exercises. Participants learn how to punch and kick correctly on pads with boxing gloves. Benefits include improved body strength and cardio, weight loss, increased flexibility, stress relief, and self-empowerment while having fun!
