What do do you enjoy most about working at LSPA + The Ballet STudio?

I enjoy showing up at work and seeing all of the smiling faces as people walk through the door. Once inside the studio, those faces continue to light up as everyone dances.

I also like the commitment that the staff has to their job. Everyone is so passionate about dance and earnest to spread that passion to up and coming dancers.

What experiences and knowledge do you bring to our performing arts school?

I danced on the recreation level until I was 18-years-old. Afterward, as time passed, I felt more and more drawn back to ballet. I joined Mrs. Beverly's adult ballet class 10 years ago, and I learned proper technique and the benefits of ballet. I came to work for The Ballet Studio in July 2013 after teaching for 23 years in the Lafayette Public School System and at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The knowledge I gained as an educator has been a tremendous help in working with such a variety of children in the performance world.

How have the performing arts impacted your life?

The performing arts have become a great source of exercise, discipline, and an avenue toward better mental health for me.

What piece of advice would you share with our students and families?

Don't stop dancing! Even if you must dance on your living room floor.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I like to curl up with a good book on my sofa or my outdoor bench with my dog Bingo right beside me. I also enjoy cooking and inviting friends over to enjoy a nice meal and great company. Most of all, I enjoy traveling. Anywhere!
