What do do you enjoy most about working at LSPA?
I enjoy how much fun I have teaching the Leap 'N Learn program to young children. It's amazing to see how much they learn and grow.
What experiences and knowledge do you bring to our performing arts school?
I danced tap, jazz, and ballet at Core Dance Center for 10 years and taught ballet there for two years. I continued dancing ballet when I was in college at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for eight semesters. I still continue dancing with adult ballet classes at The Ballet Studio. I've also completed trainings with Mrs. Beverly's Leap 'N Learn and Angelina Ballerina Dance Academy programs.
How have the performing arts impacted your life?
I was a shy, quiet child. I learned dedication, gained confidence, and felt the gratification of accomplishment year after year as I grew as a dancer. For me, ballet class is a comforting constant in an ever-changing life.
What piece of advice would you share with our students and families?
One saying I have learned here is "practice makes progress." I love that because it is so true! "Perfect" is as relative as it is unobtainable. Individual progress is a reachable goal every student can achieve.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I like to spend time with family and my dog, sew, watch the wild life in my back yard, go fishing, watch movies, and of course, dance!
